Western Connecticut State University will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit on October 22-25, 2023, by a team representing the New England Commission of Higher Education (formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges).<\/p>\n
The New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) is one of seven accrediting commissions in the United States that provide institutional accreditation on a regional basis.\u00a0 Accreditation is voluntary and applies to the institution as a whole.\u00a0 The Commission, which is recognized by the U. S. Department of Education, accredits approximately 220 institutions in the six-state New England region as well as several American-style institutions overseas.<\/p>\n
Western Connecticut State University has been accredited by the Commission since 1954 and was last reviewed in 2013.\u00a0 Its accreditation by the Commission encompasses the entire institution.<\/p>\n
For the past year and a half, Western Connecticut State University has been engaged in a process of self-study, addressing the Commission\u2019s\u00a0Standards for Accreditation<\/em>.\u00a0 An evaluation team will visit the institution to gather evidence that the self-study is thorough and accurate.\u00a0 The team will recommend to the Commission a continuing status for the institution.\u00a0 Following a review process, the Commission itself will take the final action.<\/p>\n The public is invited to submit comments to WCSU directly, via this link.\u00a0 Feedback to WCSU<\/a>.<\/p>\n
