Department of Art Faculty Exhibition to open 2015-16 Gallery schedule

DANBURY, CONN. — The Department of Art at Western Connecticut State University will open the fall semester with an exhibit highlighting the department’s teaching faculty. The exhibition will feature the works of 24 full- and part-time art faculty members in a wide variety of media, including photography, sculpture, drawing, painting and assemblage.

The exhibition will open on Monday, Aug. 24, and run through Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, in the Art Gallery at the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. The Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. The Gallery will be closed on Sunday, Aug. 30, and Sunday, Sept. 6. A gallery reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3. The reception and exhibition will be free and the public is invited. Department of Art Chair Catherine Vanaria said this exhibit is an opportunity for new and returning students, along with the general public, to witness the creativity, diversity and breadth of work of the department’s professional practitioners. Several works will be offered for purchase.
