{"id":1001,"date":"2019-07-17T18:19:08","date_gmt":"2019-07-17T18:19:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wcsu.wpengine.com\/news-archives\/wcsu-ihhs-announces-wellness-wednesday-workshops\/"},"modified":"2019-07-17T18:19:08","modified_gmt":"2019-07-17T18:19:08","slug":"wcsu-ihhs-announces-wellness-wednesday-workshops","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/news-archives\/wcsu-ihhs-announces-wellness-wednesday-workshops\/","title":{"rendered":"WCSU 2016 &#8211; WCSU IHHS announces Wellness Wednesday workshops"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">&#013;<\/p>\n<div id=\"sharingTools\"><!-- #include virtual=\"\/include\/sharingtools.inc\" --><\/div>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<div id=\"breadcrumb\"><!-- #include virtual=\"\/include\/breadcrumb.inc\" --><\/div>\n<p>&#013;<br \/>\n    &#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 With fall quickly approaching, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\">Western Connecticut State University<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/ihhs\/\">Institute for Holistic Health Studies<\/a> (IHHS), an extension of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/hpx\/\">Department of  Health Promotion and Exercise Sciences <\/a>(HPX), has renewed its focus on  promoting health and wellbeing in the community with a series of \u201cWellness  Wednesday Workshops\u201d to take place on campus starting on <strong>Sept. 14, 2016<\/strong>.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>The workshops, free of charge and open to the public, will  be at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays in Room 127 of White Hall on the university\u2019s  Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>The series will include:<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sept. 14: <\/strong>\u201cChakradance\u201d  with Life Coach and Reiki Master Khristee Rich.<br \/>&#013;<br \/>\n      Chakradance is a fun and engaging dance with specific music  designed to center and balance each of the seven chakras, or energy centers, of  the body. Enjoy the music and the movement to realign the body and mind for  better health. Learn more at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dancingcurtain.com\">www.dancingcurtain.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sept. 28: <\/strong>\u201cReflexology\u201d with Reflexologist and Health Coach Patrick  Lucas. <br \/>&#013;<br \/>\n      Relax, reduce stress and promote  the renewal of physical and emotional strength with this course that teaches  about a deeply relaxing natural form of healing based on the principle that  there are reflexology points on the feet that correspond to the various parts  and systems of the body. This seminar focuses on  how a good rest also involves nutrition, exercise and positive lifestyle  choices. Learn how the holistic healing technique known as  Reiki can be beneficial to both people and their pets. These events include:<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sahaja Yoga  Meditation Series<\/strong><br \/>&#013;<br \/>\n      On the second Tuesday of the month starting on <strong>Tuesday, Sept. 13, <\/strong>at 7 p.m. in Room  103 of Warner Hall on the Midtown campus. Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a simple,  yet profound, guided meditation with easy-to-do hand movements all done while  sitting in the comfort of a chair. Subsequent dates are <strong>Oct. 11<\/strong>, <strong>Nov. 8<\/strong> and <strong>Dec. 13<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Holistic and Integrative Health Initiatives (Part One)<\/strong><br \/><strong>Wednesday, Sept. 28,<\/strong>\u00a0from 6 to 8 p.m., Room 218 of the Classroom  Building, Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension, Danbury. A panel discussion  with a yoga teacher, a shamanic Reiki practitioner and a personal trainer.  Follow their journey from practitioners to businesswomen. This event is presented in collaboration  with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newstimes.com\/business\/article\/New-business-center-to-focus-on-innovation-in-6857099.php\">Center  for Entrepreneurship, Research, Innovation, and Creativity<\/a> (ERIC).<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Holistic and Integrative Health Initiatives (Part Two)<\/strong><br \/><strong>Tuesday, Oct. 4<\/strong>,\u00a0from 7 to 9 p.m., Room 127 of White Hall on  the Midtown campus. A panel discussion with local practitioners: a  chiropractor, naturopathic physician, osteopathic physician and a medical  doctor practicing functional medicine. <\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>Tuesday, Oct. 18<\/strong>,  at 7:30 p.m., internationally recognized health expert and author of \u201cLove,  Medicine, and Miracles,\u201d Dr. Bernie Siegel will discuss \u201cThe Art of Healing.\u201d A  book signing will follow. Tickets are $22 for the public, $12 for WCSU employees, and free for WCSU  students with I.D.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Herbs and Remedies  for Stress<\/strong> with Lupo Passero, owner\/founder of Twin Star Herbs.<br \/><strong>Tuesday, Nov. 15<\/strong>,  at 6:30 p.m. in Room 127 of White Hall on the Midtown campus. Within the Health Promotion Studies program, students may choose one  of four options\/concentrations: Wellness Management, Community Health, Allied  Health Professions, and Holistic and Integrative Health.
