{"id":1005,"date":"2019-07-17T18:19:08","date_gmt":"2019-07-17T18:19:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wcsu.wpengine.com\/news-archives\/wcsu-nursing-program-ranks-tops\/"},"modified":"2019-07-17T18:19:08","modified_gmt":"2019-07-17T18:19:08","slug":"wcsu-nursing-program-ranks-tops","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/news-archives\/wcsu-nursing-program-ranks-tops\/","title":{"rendered":"WCSU 2016 &#8211; WCSU Nursing program ranks among top in New England"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">&#013;<\/p>\n<div id=\"sharingTools\"><!-- #include virtual=\"\/include\/sharingtools.inc\" -->&#013;\n          <\/div>\n<p>&#013;<br \/>\n    &#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/\"> Western Connecticut State  University<\/a> has once again earned accolades for its nursing program \u2013 this  time earning a ranking as one of the country\u2019s top nursing schools and in the  top 20 schools in the New England region.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nursingschoolsalmanac.com\/articles\/top-50-nursing-schools-new-england\">Nursing  Schools Almanac<\/a> recently completed an inaugural ranking of U.S. nursing  schools after collecting data on more than 3,000 institutions nationwide.  WCSU\u2019s nursing program was ranked 20 of nearly 150 schools in the New England  region.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/nursing\/\">WCSU Department  of Nursing<\/a> graduates 40 to 50 students annually from its pre-licensure  Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. WCSU nursing students have achieved a  NCLEX pass rate that has ranged from 94 to 100 percent every year over the past  six years. The school\u2019s RN-to-BSN program is offered at two satellite  locations: Naugatuck Valley Community College and Norwalk Community College.  The department also has Master of Science in Nursing programs for certification  as a nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist (CNS), both of which are  designed for part-time study with evening courses. WCSU also has a  collaborative doctoral program in nursing education.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHealth care facilities in Connecticut seek out our  graduates because they are well prepared to enter the job market as graduate  nurses,\u201d said Dr. Joan Palladino, professor  and current department chair of the WCSU Department of Nursing. \u201cWe have  grown in number while maintaining smaller class sizes, which helps students  develop closer relationships with faculty. Our faculty are doctorally prepared  and stay current clinically. The faculty and the curriculum provide the strong  educational base that results in NCLEX success.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><em>Western Connecticut  State University offers outstanding faculty in a range of quality academic  programs.
