Aycock will discuss the concept and execution of \u201cAcceleration,\u201d the progressive design that hangs outside of the Westside Campus Center Ballroom. The piece is part of Connecticut\u2019s Art in Public Spaces program.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>A patchwork of bright colors, the 15 foot by 12 foot sculpture has illuminated yellow and orange neon wands, a satellite dish in one corner adorned with a coiled red wire cone and twinkling lights mimicking a starry night sky. <\/p>\n<p>&#013;<br \/>\n  Aycock\u2019s works can be found around the world \u2014 from the Museum of Modern Art in New York City to the Kunstmuseum in Switzerland. Since 2003, Aycock has been a member of the New York City Arts Commission and has also been appointed to the GSA\u2019s National Register of Peer Professionals. She has taught at several colleges and universities, including Yale where she also served as the Director of Graduate Sculpture Studies. Since 1991, she has taught at the School of Visual Arts in New York.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact the Office of University Relations at (203) 837-8486.
