DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 Achievement by Western Connecticut State University faculty was celebrated at the annual Faculty Recognition Ceremony this month.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n


\n More than three dozen professors and staff members were cited for their contributions to scholarly publications and presentations, participation in community-based organizations, completion of academic or professional degrees or development of grants.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n


\n Dr. Linda Rinker, provost and vice president of academic affairs, also conferred the WCSU Teaching Excellence Award on Dr. Marcia A. B. Delcourt, professor of education and educational psychology.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n


\n President James W. Schmotter thanked the faculty and staff members who took on extra duties to better themselves and the university.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n


\n\u201cWe improve the lives and minds of our students when we bring back new ideas,\u201d Schmotter said. \u201cWe improve our colleagues, we improve the community with all the enriching programs we offer, and we improve the economy with the money we put back into local firms. Improvement is our business. And when we improve ourselves, we are improving the entire university. That\u2019s part of the momentum that we have here at WestConn.\u201d<\/p>\n
