But \u201cWives with Knives\u201d all have something in common: they committed crimes and now reveal on TV the traumatic events that led to their assaults.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014<\/strong>, WCSU Professor of Justice and Law Administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/asb\/jla\/jordan.asp\">Dr. Casey Jordan<\/a>, the host-interviewer for the Investigation Discovery documentary series \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt2537956\/\">Wives with Knives<\/a>,\u201d with moderate a panel discussion, \u201cWives with Knives and Self-Defense Versus Assault in Domestic Violence Cases,\u201d at 5:30 p.m. in the Ballroom of the Campus Center on the university\u2019s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. Joining Jordan on the panel will be \u201cWives with  Knives\u201d producer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm4555356\/\">Carl Shick<\/a>, a local expert on domestic violence, Family Violence Victim Advocate\/Danbury Superior Court Advocate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theridgefieldpress.com\/8580\/domestic-violence-victims-have-advocates-in-the-court\/\">Lynn Nichols<\/a>; Danbury Women&#8217;s Center Program Manager of Counseling and Advocacy Services <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newstimes.com\/news\/article\/Help-available-for-sexual-assault-victims-523706.php\">Nicole Sabel<\/a>; and <a href=\"http:\/\/challengercn.com\/donna-cobb-aquitted-of-stabbing-her-husband-to-death\/\">Donna Cobb<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt3039088\/\">Jameelah Jones<\/a>, who had their stories profiled on the television show.  who have had their stories profiled on the television show. The discussion will be free and the public is invited.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>According to the show\u2019s website, \u201cWives with Knives\u201d features gripping stories of women who fight at close range. Some women endured years of sexual, emotional and physical abuse before fighting back. Others were motivated by greed and jealousy. Some of the victims died and others lived to testify against their attackers. Through personal accounts from the women who committed the crimes, as well as the victims, each episode reveals the traumatic events that led to the pair\u2019s disturbing demise.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p> Jordan is a frequent guest speaker at criminology associations, forensic conferences and justice forums, including annual presentations at Danbury Hospital\u2019s Pediatrics Conference and the Exploration Program at Yale University.  She appeared in TruTV\u2019s reality show \u201cUnsolved Murder Unit,\u201d where she teamed with a forensic pathologist and police detective to reprocess evidence and develop leads in unsolved homicide cases. She currently offers case analysis for Investigation Discovery\u2019s series \u201cI (Almost) Got Away With It\u201d and \u201cScorned: Love Kills,\u201d as well as \u201cWives with Knives.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p> In a campaign to end violence, the university\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/events\">Operation Jungle Red<\/a> will also host events including discussions on \u201cFighting Words\u201d to \u201cCampus Violence\u201d every day during the week of Oct. 13 through 16. The events will be held at various locations at both the Midtown and Westside campuses. Members of the campus community are invited to sign a pledge against violence and paint their pinky nail \u201cJungle Red\u201d to focus awareness on acts of violence.
