With that in mind, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\">Western Connecticut  State University<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/alumni\/\">Alumni Association<\/a> has launched a series of networking opportunities, called \u201cWesterNetwork,\u201d so  graduates can strengthen ties to their alma mater and to each other in a  relaxed, social environment.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>The inaugural \u201cWesterNetwork\u201d events took place in Danbury  and Norwalk, Conn. Now the Alumni Association is taking the event across state  lines to Massachusetts, where a large contingent of WCSU alumni reside.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on <strong>Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013,<\/strong> the next \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/alumni\/pdf\/BostonPostcard.pdf\">WesterNetwork<\/a>\u201d event will be at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionst.com\/\">Union  Street Restaurant &amp; Bar<\/a>, 107 Union St. in Newton. The gathering will  feature complimentary hors d\u2019oeuvres and will be free and open to WCSU alumni.  University faculty, academic deans and WCSU President James W. Schmotter will  mingle with alumni and discuss the ongoing challenges of work-life balance and  how to capitalize on relationships fostered at Western to positively affect  quality of life. Reservations are requested by Wednesday, Nov. 27, at (203)  837-8298.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>WCSU Director of Alumni Relations Tammy Hammershoy created  the networking events.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the years, alumni have expressed a desire for a closer  relationship with WCSU,\u201d Hammershoy said. \u201cBut it can be very difficult to  balance work, home and family responsibilities along with the desire to  maintain a relationship with one\u2019s alma mater. This is why we\u2019ve decided to  bring news of the university to the areas in which our alumni work and live.
