DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014The Danbury Public Library<\/a>, Western Connecticut State University<\/a>, the Danbury Public Schools<\/a> and the Wooster School<\/a> will host an author presentation, book discussion and film screening in connection with the fifth annual \u201cOne Book, One Communit<\/a>y\u201d (OBOC). <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s community read, \u201cBreakfast with Buddha<\/a>\u201d by Roland Merullo, compliments the upcoming visit of Nobel Peace Prize recipient, His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama<\/a>, to WCSU in October 2012. \u201cBreakfast with Buddha\u201d is a novel about a middle-aged publishing executive who treks through the Midwest with a berobed Mongolian monk learning about life from a new perspective. Copies of the book are available to borrow at the library.<\/p>\n

The events are scheduled as follows:<\/p>\n

\u2022\tTuesday, Oct. 2<\/strong>, from 6:30 \u2013 9 p.m. \u2013 film screening of \u201cSeven Years in Tibet<\/a>\u201d in the Farioly Program Room of the Danbury Public Library, 170 Main St. in Danbury. The 1997 movie starring Brad Pitt tells the true story of Nazi soldier Heinrich Harrer\u2019s escape from prison camp and ensuing journey to Tibet. There, Harrer, who died in 2006, tutored the young Dalai Lama and they shared a lifelong friendship. The Dalai Lama wrote the foreword to Harrer\u2019s book on which the movie is based.<\/p>\n

\u2022\tSaturday, Oct. 6<\/strong>, at 9:30 a.m. \u2013 a book discussion will be held at the Danbury library. It is free and open to the public, however registration is required.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u2022\tTuesday, Oct. 9<\/strong>, at 7:30 \u2013 8:30 p.m. \u2013 public presentation by author Roland Merullo<\/a> in Ives Concert Hall in White Hall on the WCSU Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. The event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n
