DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 The Western Connecticut State University<\/a><\/u> Marketing Club<\/a> will host Business Innovation Week from Monday, Oct. 21, to Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013,<\/strong> at several locations on the university\u2019s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. The events will be free and the public is invited. They are sponsored by Bill Imada<\/a>, <\/u> c<\/u>hairman and CCO of advertising and public relations agency IW Group Inc.<\/a><\/p>\n

Upcoming events will include:<\/p>\n

Monday, Oct. 21:<\/strong>\u00a0Jonathan Soares<\/a>, a 2006 WCSU graduate, will speak at 5:30 p.m. in the Westside Campus Center Ballroom. Soares is CEO of Q Products Inc. and creator of Jonathan\u2019s Q Gourmet BBQ Sauces<\/a>.<\/u> He also is the co-founder and CEO of Moo Digital<\/a>, a software development company.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, Oct. 22: <\/strong>Michael Carpanzano<\/a>, recipient of a Master of Business Administration from WCSU in 2012, will speak at 3 p.m. in Room 212 of the Westside Campus Center. Carpanzano won the 2012 Connecticut Business Model Competition<\/a> sponsored by the Entrepreneurship Foundation of Connecticut. Also the Grand Prize winner of the Giants Entrepreneurship Challenge<\/a>, Carpanzano will discuss the use of Kickstarter<\/a> to market his invention, nuplug<\/a>, a surge-protected extension cord that can be attached to furniture.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, Oct. 23: <\/strong>There will be an Ancell School of Business<\/a> alumni forum at 6 p.m. in the Westside Campus Center Ballroom. <\/p>\n

Monday, Oct. 28: <\/strong>Maureen Gernert, director of the WCSU Career Development Center<\/a>, will host a resume workshop at 5:30 p.m. in the Westside Campus Center Ballroom.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, Oct. 29: <\/strong>Kyle Lyddy,<\/a> marketing manager at Amplitude Marketing Group Inc.<\/a> and former University of Connecticut basketball manager, will speak at 3 p.m. in the Westside Campus Center Ballroom. Lyddy is working on a soon-to-be-published book, \u201cFrom My Seat,\u201d providing a behind-the-scenes look at the 2009 UConn basketball team that went to the Final Four.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, Oct. 30:\u00a0<\/strong>The public is invited to watch WCSU students compete in the second annual \u201cYour Big Idea\u201d competition at 4:30 p.m. in Room 218 of the Westside Classroom Building.
