DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 Award-winning artists with decades of influential music-making will perform this summer in the Union Savings Bank Summer Concert Series at Ives Concert Park in Danbury.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Multi-platinum recording artist Jackson Browne and his band<\/strong> will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 13<\/strong>, at the outdoor venue on the Westside campus of Western Connecticut State University, 43 Lake Ave. Ext. in Danbury. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets, which range from $35 to $75, plus service charges, are on sale at www.ticketmaster.com. Browne\u2019s Web site states that he \u201chas written and performed some of the most literate and moving songs in popular music and has defined a genre of songwriting charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. He\u2019s been honored with inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2004) and the Songwriter\u2019s Hall of Fame (2007).\u201d Browne\u2019s 2008 release, \u201cTime the Conqueror,\u201d is his first set of new material in six years. Accompanying Browne will be his band of 15 years. <\/p>\n

At 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1<\/strong>, rockers Gov\u2019t Mule<\/strong> will take the Ives Concert Park stage. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets, which range from $25 to $35, plus service charges, are on sale at www.ticketmaster.com. According to the band\u2019s Web site, \u201cFounded in 1994 as a power-trio, Gov\u2019t Mule has, over the course of eight studio albums, several live projects, and more than 1,300 concert performances, built an evolving body of work and a devoted fan base. In addition, the band has sold 1.5 million downloads on its Web site www.mule.net, sold more than one million albums, and received a Grammy nomination.\u201d<\/p>\n

Collective Soul<\/strong> will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17<\/strong>. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets will be on sale at www.ticketmaster.com on Friday, June 19. Collective Soul\u2019s debut, \u201cHints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid,\u201d originally released in 1993 on Atlanta indie label Rising Storm, was picked up by Atlantic in 1994. The single \u201cShine\u201d became a breakthrough hit, pushing the album to platinum, and putting the band on tour with Aerosmith and onstage at Woodstock 1994. The album produced seven No. 1 singles. Eight albums and a live compilation followed, including \u201cAfterwards,\u201d their most recent project, released in 2007. <\/p>\n

\n The B.B. King Blues Festival<\/strong> on Sunday, Aug. 23<\/strong>, will feature Marcia Ball, John Lee Hooker Jr., the Christopher Robin Band, Eran Troy Danner, and B.B. King. Gates will open at 3 p.m. for the concert, and the first set will begin at 4 p.m. Tickets, which range from $25 to $85, plus service charges, are on sale at www.ticketmaster.com. According to his official Web site, \u201cFor more than half a century, Riley B. King \u2014 better known as B.B. King \u2014 has defined the blues for a worldwide audience. Since he started recording in the 1940s, he has released more than 50 albums, many of them classics. \u2026 He was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1984 and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. He received the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award in 1987.\u201d<\/p>\n
