Finn\" width=\"178\" height=\"270\" align=\"right\" class=\"alignright\" \/><strong>DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wesleyan.edu\/\">Wesleyan University<\/a> Professor of Government <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wesleyan.edu\/templates\/dept\/govt\/skeleton_faculty.htt?function=f1&amp;department=GOVT&amp;faculty=jfinn\">Dr. John E. Finn<\/a> will discuss \u201cConstituting \u2018We the People\u2019\u201d at 6:30 p.m. on <strong>Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013<\/strong>, in Room 215 of the Higgins Annex on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\">Western Connecticut State University<\/a> Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. The talk will take place on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.constitutionday.com\/\">Constitution Day<\/a>, an American federal observance that commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787, and recognizes all who have become citizens either by being born in the U.S. or by naturalization.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>A professor at Wesleyan since 1986, Finn\u2019s research focuses on constitutional theory, comparative constitutional law, the First Amendment, and the legal regulation of terrorism and political violence. He has received several \u201cExcellence in Teaching\u201d awards while at Wesleyan.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>Well-versed in constitutional theory and interpretation, Finn has written several books, including \u201cThe Civic Constitution: Constituting, Maintaining, and Failing,\u201d scheduled for release in spring 2014. Finn also co-wrote \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/rowman.com\/ISBN\/9780742563667\">American Constitutional Law: Essays, Cases and Comparative Notes<\/a>&#8221; (2009). His \u201c<a href=\"\">Constitutions in Crisis: Political Violence and the Rule of Law<\/a>\u201d was published in 1991.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>A sought-after speaker on constitutional law and political violence, Finn has lectured in France, Spain, Chile, Bolivia, England and Italy. In the U.S., he has spoken at Princeton University, the University of Texas and the University of Connecticut Law School and has provided testimony to the House Judiciary Committee.
