Admission will be free and the public is invited to attend.

During a professional career spanning 36 years, including more than three decades at Nikon USA, Corrado has received international recognition for the powerful images captured in his visual art as well as his marketing achievements for Nikon. He has served most recently as manager of Nikon Professional Services/Pro Relations and Product Marketing, and previously has been a Nikon School instructor, Pro Markets technical representative, senior product manager for digital SLR cameras, and contributor to Nikon World Magazine and the Nikon Learn and Explore website.

Corrado has found eclectic and diverse inspirations for his personal photography projects ranging from portraits to wildlife and sports. His current project titled “The Birds of Stony Brook” has tracked daily avian life in a natural habitat located a short distance from his home. Another passion in recent years has been his photo shoots of musicians in performance, working with Live Nation at major music festivals nationwide and as house photographer at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on Long Island. Corrado’s project, “DrummerLOVE,” has focused on photographing the band member typically most difficult to shoot during band performances. His unique remote camera setups have captured live action of some of the world’s elite drummers including Daniel Adair of Nickelback, Barry Kerch of Shinedown, Chuck Burgi with Billy Joel, Greg Upchurch of 3 Doors Down, Tommy Lee of Motely Crue, Ryan Berty of SOJA, Deen Castronovo of Journey and Jason Bonham, son of the legendary John Bonham of Led Zeppelin.

“I am completely connected with seeing and capturing photographs and unique moments every single day,” Corrado remarked. “I’m excited to be a part of this business, working for one of the greatest technological leaders in photography today and working with the best visual artists on this amazing planet.

“I’m enamored with light, watching it, studying it as it’s moving and changing constantly,” he said. “Recognizing the power, natural beauty and quality of light is one of the first steps toward becoming a more accomplished photographer. The next step is to learn how to make stunning light when it doesn’t exist. It is critical that photographers learn the craft and realize that the learning process never ends.”

Corrado has trained and worked with leading photographers in the United States and abroad, and is the creator of the Nikon Ambassador Program featuring top photographers and filmmakers at Nikon. He has captured still images and video recordings on assignments to international locations including Japan, Vietnam, South Africa and Germany and at major sporting events from the Super Bowl and Kentucky Derby to World Series and the Indy 500. His work has been distributed by Nikon USA through its website and featured in the company’s product promotions, brochures and educational materials. He has produced several award-winning Nikon educational DVDs, including his “Hands-on Guide to Creative Lighting” that achieved record sales within weeks of hitting the market and remains Nikon’s best-selling DVD ever.

Corrado’s strong dedication to giving back to his profession and to society are evident in his wide-ranging charitable commitments including the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, the “Keep a Child Alive” campaign to fight AIDS and animal rescue organizations across the Mid-Atlantic region. He also works with the Sunrise Day Camp-Long Island, where he helped to design and build the “My Picture Place” photo cabin for campers to learn about photography.

For more information, contact the Department of Art at (203) 837-8403, the Art Gallery at (203) 837-8889 or the Office of University Relations at (203) 837-8486.

Western Connecticut State University offers outstanding faculty in a range of quality academic programs.
