DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 Due to worsening projections for the path and intensity of Hurricane Irene<\/a>, Western Connecticut State University will be closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, Aug. 27 \u2013 29. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Move-in day for freshmen and opening ceremonies will take place on Friday, Aug. 26, as scheduled. The university will close following the end of the freshman dinner. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

All normal operations will be suspended and residential students will be asked to return to their homes beginning Friday, Aug. 26. Accommodations for those students who cannot leave will be made at Pinney and Centennial Halls on the Westside campus on Saturday evening. These residence halls have emergency power back-up. Limited food service also will be provided.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Move-in day for returning students is canceled for Saturday, Aug. 27, and will take place Monday, Aug. 29, between noon and 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

All events and ceremonies that were scheduled for Saturday and Sunday are canceled.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

All classes for Monday, Aug. 29, are canceled in anticipation of storm aftermath and clean up needs.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The university will review and amend these plans as new information about Irene\u2019s path, speed, and intensity become available. Any changes will be announced on the WCSU website, www.wcsu.edu<\/a>, Facebook page<\/a>, Twitter feed<\/a> and through the university\u2019s MIR3 emergency communication network. <\/p>\n
