DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 The Western Connecticut State University theatre arts department will present \u201cI Love a Piano: A Salute to Irving Berlin<\/a>\u201d at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23, at Ives Concert Park on the WCSU Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury.<\/p>\n

Sponsored by Newtown Savings Bank, the show is the celebration of the music and lyrics of Irving Berlin. It follows the journey of a piano as it moves in and out of American lives from the turn of the century to the present. Along the way, the story comes to vibrant life with more than 60 of Berlin\u2019s most beloved songs, including classics such as \u201cBlue Skies,\u201d \u201cThere\u2019s No Business Like Show Business,\u201d \u201cPuttin\u2019 on the Ritz,\u201d \u201cCheek to Cheek,\u201d \u201cAlways,\u201d \u201cHow Deep is the Ocean,\u201d \u201cAnything You Can Do,\u201d \u201cGod Bless America,\u201d and, of course, \u201cI Love a Piano.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alternately heartbreaking and hilarious, rousing and reflective, \u201cI Love a Piano\u201d is a fitting tribute to the man Jerome Kern famously said had \u201cno place in American music \u2014 he is American music.\u201d<\/p>\n
