DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 From sports writing to screen writing, the Young Writers Conference at Western Connecticut State University will offer plenty of workshops for teens this summer. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

From July 24 through 29<\/strong>, students in grades 7 through 12 will spend five days learning to write in their favorite genre. Workshops will include: <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u2022\tWriting the short story

\n \u2022\tIntroduction to writing poetry

\n \u2022\tAdvanced poetry writing

\n \u2022\tSports writing

\n \u2022\tHuman interest writing

\n \u2022\tScreen writing

\n \u2022\tReading body language

\n \u2022\tPublic speaking

\n \u2022\tSong writing

\n \u2022\tWriting the college admissions essay

\n \u2022\tCollege interview<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The workshops will be led by published writers and all students will have an opportunity to see their work in print in the 2011 conference journal.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Tuition for resident students in grades 9 through 12 is $950 and includes a (double) dorm room, a get-acquainted party on Sunday night and breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Friday. Tuition for day students, grades 7 through 12, is $550 and includes breakfast and lunch for the week. Registration deadline is June 30 for resident students and July 15 for day students. There is a $50 discount for those registering before June 1. <\/p>\n
