Western is a university that embraces diversity and advocates multicultural awareness and acceptance. International Education week is an integral event held yearly at the university in order to create a more united, global community that encourages international collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>International Education week events will take place <strong>Monday through Friday, Nov. 12 to 16, 2012<\/strong>, on the WCSU Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. The programs are free and the public is invited. <\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday, Nov. 12 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\t11 a.m. \u2013 1 p.m., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/isep\/\">International Student Exchange Program<\/a> Information Table, Student Center lobby, through Nov. 15<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\t1:30 \u2013 2:30 p.m., \u201cTasting Language,\u201d 15-minute language immersion sessions, Alumni Hall <\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday, Nov. 13<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\t12:30 p.m., \u201cEgypt\u2019s Revolution and Beyond,\u201d Assistant Professor of Social Sciences Dr. Christine Hegel-Canterella will speak about Cairo activism and the prospects for lasting change, Warner Hall<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\t1:30 p.m., \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.peacecorps.gov\/\">Peace Corps<\/a>: The Toughest Job You\u2019ll Ever Love,\u201d Professor of Anthropology Dr. Rob Whittemore will discuss the Peace Corps, Student Center Theater<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\t3 p.m., \u201cFinding Fellowship Support for International Scholarship,\u201d Professor of Political Science Dr. Chris Kukk and Professor of Anthropology Dr. Rob Whittemore will lead a panel discussion featuring current and former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/president\/annualreport\/seen\/Fulbright.asp\">Fulbright Program<\/a> applicants, Student Center Theater <\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\t5 p.m., \u201cGlobal Citizenship at Home and Abroad,\u201d Assistant Professor of Anthropology Dr. Jeannie Hatcherson will discuss global citizenship, Room 202 of the Student Center<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, Nov.14<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\t9:25 a.m., Screening of  \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/takingrootfilm.com\/\">Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai<\/a>,\u201d a film that depicts women of different religions and ethnicities working together toward positive social change, Student Center Theater<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\t1 p.m., Drum Circle at the Alumni &amp; Friends Circle<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\t2:30 p.m., International Studies and Volunteer Projects, Assistant Professor of World Languages and Literature Dr. Alba Skar and students from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/studentcenter\/results.asp?OrgName=LETRA\">LETRA<\/a>, an organization that promotes the study of different languages, will discuss international study and volunteer projects, Alumni Hall <\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\t4 p.m., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/studentcenter\/results.asp?OrgName=Latin%20American%20Student%20Organization%20(LASO)\">LASO<\/a>, the Latin-American Student Organization, will host Bobby Gonzalez, Student Center Theater<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, Nov. 15<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tNoon, \u201cEmbracing Internationalization in American Higher Education,\u201d Assistant Professor of Nursing Dr. Bozena Padykula will focus on the benefits and challenges of international students\u2019 access to U.S. colleges and universities, Warner Hall<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\t3:30 p.m., \u201cSpinning the Globe: WCSU students after ISEP,\u201d Firsthand accounts of International Student Exchange Program experiences, Student Center Theater<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday, Nov. 16<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tNoon, African Film Festival, Student Center Theater<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>For more information, call (203) 837-9700.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>Western Connecticut State University offers outstanding faculty in a range of quality academic programs.
