The September issue of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.connecticutmag.com\/Connecticut-Magazine\/September-2013\/Best-of-Connecticut-2013\/\">Connecticut Magazine<\/a> has proclaimed the location \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.connecticutmag.com\/Connecticut-Magazine\/September-2013\/Best-of-Connecticut-2013\/Fun\/index.php?cp=5&amp;si=4\">Best Outdoor Venue<\/a>\u201d and the <a href=\"http:\/\/artswesternct.org\/\">Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut<\/a> will honor Charles Ives Authority Board Chairman Steve Greenberg with the <a href=\"http:\/\/bsabreakfast.splashthat.com\/\">2013 Arts in the Community Award<\/a> at its annual Business Supports the Arts Awards Breakfast on Thursday, Oct. 17.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a letter notifying the Ives Board of Directors of the \u201cBest Of\u201d award, Connecticut Magazine General Manager Marisa Dragone wrote, \u201cYou have been selected by the editors of Connecticut Magazine as one of the Best in Connecticut for 2013! Your award will be announced in the September issue featuring the Best of Connecticut categories ranging from Best Beer to Best Miniature Golf Course. We\u2019ve chosen you as \u2018Best\u2019 in the following category: Best Outdoor Venue.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou should be proud of this award,\u201d Dragone continued. \u201cThe competition was fierce and we debated at length over our choice. \u2026 It\u2019s businesses such as yours \u2014 and your hard work \u2014 that contribute so much to our high quality of life and make living here such a pleasure. We hope this honor brings you much success!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ives Concert Park is a joint endeavor of the city of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ci.danbury.ct.us\/\">Danbury<\/a> and the university. Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton said, \u201cIt comes as no surprise that Connecticut Magazine has awarded Ives Concert Park as the \u2018Best Outdoor Venue.\u2019 The backdrop of the beautiful and aesthetic surroundings of Ives Concert Park at Western Connecticut State University is truly a wonder. The entire staff and volunteers at the Ives go above and beyond each day and are very deserving of this recognition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Boughton, who appointed Greenberg to chair the Ives Authority Board in 2007, added, \u201cI\u2019d like to congratulate Steve on receiving this year\u2019s Arts in the Community Award. His unwavering commitment toward making Ives Concert Park the premier venue in Connecticut should never go unrecognized.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Charles Ives Authority Executive Director Phyllis Cortese added, \u201cAll of us at the Ives are very proud of our chairman\u2019s tremendous contributions to the community. As an arts advocate who serves the Ives Authority in a volunteer capacity, Steve\u2019s tireless investment of time, commitment and dedication contribute to our enhanced quality of life and economic vitality in the region.
