DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 \u201cLove Wins! A Celebration of Food and Music to Benefit the Ana Grace Project<\/a> and The Ana Grace M\u00e1rquez – Greene Scholarship Fund at WCSU<\/a>” will be on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015<\/strong>, in the Visual and Performing Arts Center<\/a> (VPAC) on the Western Connecticut State University<\/a> Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. The event will feature internationally recognized French chef, television personality and author Jacques P\u00e9pin<\/a>; Grammy Award-winning vocalist Kurt Elling<\/a>; 2010 National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master pianist Kenny Barron<\/a>; bassist John Patitucci<\/a>; drummer Lewis Nash<\/a> and WCSU Coordinator of Jazz Studies Jimmy Greene<\/a> on saxophone. It is being hosted by the WCSU Department of Music<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The event will begin at 7 p.m. with a wine and cheese reception in the VPAC lobby. During the reception, P\u00e9pin will participate in a question-and-answer session. At 8 p.m., Elling, Barron, Patitucci, Nash and Greene will perform in the VPAC Veronica Hagman Concert Hall. Immediately following the concert, P\u00e9pin will sign his book, \u201cJacques P\u00e9pin Heart & Soul in the Kitchen<\/a>\u201d; wine expert and author Claudine P\u00e9pin will sign her book, \u201cKids Cook French<\/a>\u201d; and Greene will sign copies of his CD, \u201cBeautiful Life<\/a>,\u201d during a light dessert reception.<\/p>\n

The Ana Grace Project was created in the aftermath of the Dec. 14, 2012, shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. The organization\u2019s mission is to \u201cpromote love, community and connection for every child and family.\u201d Ana Grace was the beloved daughter of Jimmy Greene and Nelba M\u00e1rquez-Greene, and younger sister of devoted brother, Isaiah.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Ana Grace M\u00e1rquez – Greene Scholarship Fund at WCSU also was created after Dec. 14, 2012. Its purpose is to fund four-year scholarships at Western for music students, since Ana \u201cloved her God, loved to read the Bible and loved to sing and dance as acts of worship,\u201d according to her father.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m humbled by the caring and generosity of the P\u00e9pins, the WCSU community and these amazing musicians in donating their time and talents for this event,\u201d Greene said. \u201cIt will truly be an honor to take the stage with Kurt, Kenny, John and Lewis on what I\u2019m certain will be a powerful night full of great music, great food and love.\u201d<\/p>\n
