DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 The winners of the 2016 Housatonic Book Awards<\/a> in Poetry and Fiction will read from their work along with a host of other poets and writers during the Western Connecticut State University<\/a> Master of Fine Arts in Creative and Professional Writing<\/a> program\u2019s winter residency next month.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017,<\/strong> M.O. Walsh<\/a>, winner of the 2016 Housatonic Book Award for his work of fiction, \u201cMy Sunshine Away,\u201d will read at 7 p.m. in Room 218 of the Classroom Building on the WCSU Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. Walsh will answer questions and sign books after the reading.<\/p>\n

Reginald Dwayne Betts<\/a>, winner of the 2016 Housatonic Book Award for his work of poetry, \u201cBastards of the Reagan Era,\u201d will read at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4<\/strong>, in Room 218 of the Classroom Building on the WCSU Westside campus. He will answer questions and sign books after the reading.<\/p>\n

Former M.F.A. mentor Elizabeth Cohen<\/a> will read from her work at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5<\/strong>, in Room 218 of the Classroom Building on the university\u2019s Westside campus.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Jan. 6<\/strong>, M.F.A. mentor Libby Cudmore<\/a> will read from her work at 7 p.m. in the Washington Room at the Maron Hotel, 42 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury.<\/p>\n

M.F.A. alumni Beth Turley and David Hayes will read from their work at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7<\/strong>, in Room 218 of the Classroom Building on the WCSU Westside campus.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The readings are free and open to the public. In the event of university closure due to weather, all events will be held at the Maron Hotel.

\n The readings offer the Danbury community an opportunity to hear fiction, nonfiction and poetry readings by nationally renowned authors. Launched in 2005, the program enables participants from across the nation to continue working while pursuing M.F.A. studies in a diverse range of creative and nonfiction writing genres through distance learning.<\/p>\n
