\"ImageDANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014Dr. David Martin has been appointed as the next dean of the Ancell School of Business<\/a> at Western Connecticut State University<\/a> to begin in July.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Martin is currently the dean at the St. John Fisher College<\/a> School of Business in Rochester, New York, a position he has held since July 2010. He is also a professor of finance at the school. He earned a B.A. in history from Long Island University<\/a>, an MBA from Western Illinois University<\/a> and a Ph.D. in business administration from Saint Louis University<\/a> with a major in finance.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very excited to join the Ancell School of Business with its high-quality programs in business and in justice and law administration,\u201d Martin said. \u201cI am convinced that the faculty, staff and administration are committed to providing a first-class education to their students as well as to being a significant resource to the regional business and justice communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

During his tenure at St. John Fisher, Martin has, among other things, supported and encouraged the development of two new majors in marketing and human resource management, created a joint Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration program and launched the first college-wide travel study-tour. From 2008 to 2010, Martin served as the associate dean of the School of Business at LaSalle University<\/a> in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

\u201cDavid Martin has demonstrated his ability to lead faculty colleagues in developing academic programs that meet the needs of business stakeholders,\u201d WCSU President James Schmotter said. \u201cI look forward to the new linkages he will forge for the Ancell School within the Fairfield County business community.\u201d<\/p>\n
