DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 If you love the arts \u2013 from music to drawing and painting, then maybe you\u2019d be willing to make a donation of craft materials. Or perhaps you have a forgotten violin collecting dust in your attic that could find its way into the hands and heart of a musically inspired child.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

These items are being collected by LETRA, the World Languages Club<\/a> at Western Connecticut State University<\/a>, for an upcoming trip abroad to help foster the arts for children.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

From March 22 through 30, six WCSU students will volunteer through La Esperanza Granada<\/a> in Nicaragua<\/a> to teach schoolchildren to make crafts. La Esperanza is a foundation that builds schools in the city. The arts and crafts donations will go directly to the students in the classrooms.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It is also LETRA\u2019s mission to bring six donated violins to the Luisa Mercado Foundation<\/a> in Masatepe. The foundation helps give children access to a library, tutoring and musical instruments.<\/p>\n
