{"id":750,"date":"2019-07-17T18:18:46","date_gmt":"2019-07-17T18:18:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wcsu.wpengine.com\/news-archives\/panel-discussion-of-police-community-issues\/"},"modified":"2019-07-17T18:18:46","modified_gmt":"2019-07-17T18:18:46","slug":"panel-discussion-of-police-community-issues","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/news-archives\/panel-discussion-of-police-community-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"WCSU 2016 &#8211; Panel will spur discussion of police\/community issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">&#013;<\/p>\n<div id=\"sharingTools\"><!-- #include virtual=\"\/include\/sharingtools.inc\" --><\/div>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<div id=\"breadcrumb\"><!-- #include virtual=\"\/include\/breadcrumb.inc\" --><\/div>\n<p>&#013;<br \/>\n    &#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/\"> Western Connecticut State  University<\/a> is creating a discussion about how citizens and police can work together to  protect the liberties and lives of both civilians and law enforcement officers  whose job it is to safeguard the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRace,  Community, Policing and YOU \u2014 A Conversation to Make a Difference\u201d will feature  a panel of law enforcement and student leaders at 11 a.m. on <strong>Monday, Dec. 5, 2016,<\/strong> in the Ballroom of the  Westside Campus Center, 43 Lake Ave. Extension, in Danbury. The event is free  and the public is invited.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>Participants  include <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ci.danbury.ct.us\/police\">Danbury Police<\/a> Chief Patrick Ridenhour; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rpdct.us\/main\/\">Redding Police<\/a> Chief Douglas  Fuchs, who is also a WestConn instructor; Trooper 1st Class <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ct.gov\/despp\/cwp\/view.asp?a=4225&amp;Q=494962&amp;desppNAV_GID=2089\">Kelly Grant<\/a>, the public  information officer for the Connecticut State Police; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/police\/\">WCSU Police<\/a> Chief Roger Connor; and student  representatives.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/president\/\">WCSU President Dr.  John B.
