{"id":805,"date":"2019-07-17T18:18:51","date_gmt":"2019-07-17T18:18:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wcsu.wpengine.com\/news-archives\/red_nose_fundraiser\/"},"modified":"2019-07-17T18:18:51","modified_gmt":"2019-07-17T18:18:51","slug":"red_nose_fundraiser","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/news-archives\/red_nose_fundraiser\/","title":{"rendered":"WCSU  2016 &#8211; Red Nose Fundraiser"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">&#013;<\/p>\n<div id=\"sharingTools\"><!-- #include virtual=\"\/include\/sharingtools.inc\" --><\/div>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<div id=\"breadcrumb\"><!-- #include virtual=\"\/include\/breadcrumb.inc\" --><\/div>\n<p>&#013;<br \/>\n    &#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/default.asp\">Western Connecticut State University<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/childcare\/\">Child Care Center<\/a> will join the <a href=\"http:\/\/rednoseday.org\/\">Red Nose Day<\/a> campaign on Thursday, May 26, to  raise funds for charitable causes locally, nationally and internationally as  children at the center participate in a special fundraising event with the  support of their families.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>Family donations for the red noses  to be worn by their children on Red Nose Day will provide funds to purchase  fresh produce and milk for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caawc.org\/\">Community Action  Agency of Western Connecticut<\/a> Food Pantry in Danbury. Lauren Halpin,  program director of the WCSU Child Care Center, said that the children  participating in the event selected the CAAWC pantry as the local charity  recipient. <\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>The Child Care Center event will be  held as part of the national Red Nose Day fundraising campaign supporting  children- and family-oriented charitable organizations sponsored by <a href=\"http:\/\/comicrelief.org\/\">Comic Relief Inc.<\/a> in partnership with  Walgreens, NBC, M&amp;M\u2019s and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The Comic  Relief website noted the inaugural Red Nose Day appeal in the United States in  2015 benefited charitable work in all 50 states and 15 nations abroad through  \u201cprograms to keep children and young people safe, healthy and educated and lift  kids out of poverty.\u201d The U.S. appeal is part of an international Red Nose Day  campaign that has raised more than $1 billion globally in the past 25 years. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>The Child Care Center\u2019s purchase of  red noses through Walgreens will contribute to the charities supported by the  national appeal, Halpin observed.
