But the excitement doesn\u2019t start there.  The entire university is gearing up for a week full of events.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Sunday,  Oct. 13<\/u><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>The \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/homecoming\/5K_brochure.pdf\"><strong>Campus-to-Campus 5K Road Race<\/strong><\/a>\u201d starts at <strong>9 a.m.<\/strong> from the university\u2019s Westside campus and ends at the front gates of the  Midtown campus. The race is $30 per person (free for WCSU students) and is open  to the public. Participants will be able to register from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. on  race day. For more information, go to <a href=\"http:\/\/wcsu.edu\/5k\/\">http:\/\/wcsu.edu\/5k\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>2 p.m<\/strong>., the Department of Theatre Arts will present \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/newsevents\/TwoNightsNearDoolin.asp\"><strong>Two Nights  Near Doolin<\/strong><\/a>,\u201d in the Reimold Theatre, Berkshire  Hall on the university\u2019s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. Tickets are  $20 general admission, $15 for seniors and non-WCSU students, $10 for faculty  and staff, and free to WCSU students.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>Also at <strong>2 p.m<\/strong>., the WCSU <strong>field  hockey<\/strong> team will face off with Bridgewater State on the university\u2019s  Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. Admission is free.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>3 p.m<\/strong>., the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/music\/concerts.asp\"><strong>symphonic  band and wind ensemble<\/strong><\/a> will  perform at the Ives Concert Hall in White Hall on the university\u2019s Midtown  campus. The concert is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Tuesday,  Oct. 15<\/u><\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong \/>From <strong>1 to 4 p.m<\/strong>., Department of Art faculty member Plonia Nixon will  present her \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/newsevents\/PloniaNixonretrospective.asp\"><strong>Retrospective  Exhibition<\/strong><\/a>,\u201d a collection of more than 40  years of her work displaying a range of styles and media including drawings,  paintings, pastels and collage. The art will be displayed in The Gallery at  Higgins Hall in Higgins Hall Annex Room 101 on the university\u2019s Midtown campus.  The exhibit is free and open to the public from 1 to 4 p.m. throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Wednesday,  Oct. 16<\/u><\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>2 p.m<\/strong>., the WCSU <strong>field  hockey<\/strong> team will play Manhattanville College on the university\u2019s Westside  campus. Admission is free.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>8 p.m.<\/strong> the Department of Music will present a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/music\/concerts.asp\"><strong>percussion ensemble concert<\/strong><\/a> at the Ives Concert Hall in White Hall on the Midtown  campus. The concert is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Thursday,  Oct. 17<\/u><\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>From <strong>11 a.m. to 2 p.m<\/strong>., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/president\/annualreport\/cultivating\/OperationJungleRed.asp\"><strong>Operation  Jungle Red<\/strong><\/a> will campaign to end violence.  Members of the campus community are invited to sign a pledge against violence  and paint their pinky nail \u201cJungle Red\u201d to focus awareness on acts of violence.  The event will be held at the Student Center Plaza, Midtown campus, and is free  and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>4 p.m.<\/strong>, the WCSU <strong>women\u2019s  tennis team<\/strong> will compete against St. Joseph at the Westside campus tennis  courts. Free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>7 p.m.<\/strong> in the Westside campus\u2019 O\u2019Neill Center, the WCSU <strong>volleyball team<\/strong> will play Baruch  College. The game is free and the public is welcome<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/stuaffairs\/coffeehouse.asp\">coffeehouse  at WCSU<\/a> will begin with open mic performers  at <strong>8 p.m.<\/strong> followed by featured  act, <strong>rock\/pop duo Aaron and Andrew<\/strong>,  in Alumni Hall on the Midtown campus. Free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Friday, Oct. 18<\/u><\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>6 p.m<\/strong>. the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/alumni\/Hall_of_Fame_2013.asp\"><strong>Hall of Fame  dinner and ceremony<\/strong><\/a> will be held at the Amber Room Colonnade,  1 Stacey Road in Danbury. Help WCSU celebrate the accomplishments of the alumni  athletes, coaches and supporters being inducted into the 2013 Athletic Hall of  Fame: Nicole Corbin \u201906 (Women\u2019s Soccer), Tom Crucitti \u201969 (Men\u2019s Soccer),  Joseph Giaquinto \u201970 (Football, Men\u2019s Basketball, Baseball, Men\u2019s Soccer),  James Krayeske (Support: First WCSU Football Coach), Christin Morgatto \u201905  (Women&#8217;s Basketball), Alicia O&#8217;Brien \u201983, \u201986, \u201995 (Softball Coach\/Associate  Athletic Director) and Tina Shanahan O&#8217;Marra \u201998, \u201905 (Women\u2019s Basketball) .  Tickets are $75\/person or $700\/table  of 10. For more information or to RSVP, call (203) 837-8298.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>9 p.m.<\/strong> in the commuter parking lot on the Westside campus, the Student Government  Association will hold the <strong>return of the  bonfire and fireworks celebration<\/strong> to usher in the big day. Free and open to  the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Saturday,  Oct. 19<\/u><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>From <strong>9 a.m.  to noon<\/strong> at the Student Center Theater on the Midtown campus, there will be  an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/admissions\/ugrad.asp\"><strong>admissions tour<\/strong><\/a> for those interested. Free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Homecoming  Brunch<\/strong> will take place from <strong>10:30  a.m. to 1 p.m<\/strong>. at the Westside Campus Center Marketplace. The brunch is  open to the public. Cost is $10\/person or $15\/person for brunch and lunch BBQ  combined. Children age 10 and under are $5\/person.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>11 a.m.<\/strong> the WCSU <strong>volleyball team<\/strong> vs. Bridgewater State  in the Feldman Arena, O&#8217;Neill Center, Westside campus. The men\u2019s soccer team  will also play at 11 a.m. vs. Southern Maine at the Westside campus Athletic  Stadium. Both games are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>1 p.m.<\/strong> the WCSU <strong>women\u2019s tennis team<\/strong> will square off against Rhode Island College at  the Westside campus tennis courts. Also at 1 p.m., the men\u2019s rugby team will  play Springfield College at the recreation field on the Westside campus. Both  events are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>From <strong>2:30 to 4:30 p.m<\/strong>., join the university community at the <strong>Homecoming Barbecue<\/strong>. Menu includes: BBQ  ribs, fried chicken, macaroni &amp; cheese, southern greens, sweet potato  casserole, coleslaw, cornbread, hummingbird cupcakes, sweet potato cupcakes  with cream cheese frosting, pecan pie cupcakes, warm apple cider, sweet tea,  coffee and decaf. The BBQ is open to the public. The cost is $10 for adults, $5  for children 10 and under, and meal-plan students can use their meal swipe.  Non-meal plan WCSU students will be free courtesy of the SGA.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>3 p.m.<\/strong> the WCSU <strong>volleyball  team<\/strong> will play Wheaton at Feldman Arena in the Westside campus O\u2019Neill  Center. Free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Homecoming Game<\/strong> will kick off at <strong>5 p.m.<\/strong> when the WCSU Colonials play against Fitchburg State at the  university\u2019s athletic stadium.
