DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 The Western Connecticut State University<\/a> Department of Social Work<\/a> has received reaffirmation of accreditation for its bachelor\u2019s degree in social work program from the Council on Social Work Education<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The reaffirmation, which extends to February 2021, was based on a review of the department\u2019s self-study, demonstrated compliance with a set of guidelines developed by CSWE and a site visit.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Dr. Jess House, dean of the School of Professional Studies<\/a> at WCSU, celebrated the Social Work Department\u2019s achievement.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cThe CSWE is the sole accrediting agency for social work education in this country,\u201d House said. \u201cProgram accreditation demonstrates academic quality to students and the public.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CSWE is a nonprofit national association representing more than 2,500 individual members, as well as graduate and undergraduate programs of professional social work education. Founded in 1952, it is a partnership of educational and professional institutions, social welfare agencies, and private citizens.<\/p>\n
