DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 The Western Connecticut State University Opera will present Kurt Weill\u2019s \u201cStreet Scene\u201d at 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, April 7 \u2013 8<\/strong>, and at 2 and 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 9<\/strong>, in the Ives Concert Hall in White Hall on the university\u2019s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama by Elmer Rice, Weill\u2019s Broadway opera combines show tunes, arias, jazz numbers and folk songs to convey the tensions and drama in a New York City tenement block over the course of two brutally hot days in the 1940s.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The opera will be performed by two separate casts with full orchestra conducted by Eric Trudel. Principal performers include Cidalia Alves, Greg Sullivan and Erick Sanchez, of Stamford. Also playing prominent roles are Jacqueline Buotote, of Watertown; Alexander Patrie, of Griswold; Annie Bryson, of Shelton; David Sylvia, of Orange; and Emily Thiel, of Beacon Falls, N.Y. <\/p>\n

Tickets will be $15 for the general public, and $10 for senior citizens and children 12 and under. WCSU students will be admitted free with valid I.D.<\/p>\n
