{"id":924,"date":"2019-07-17T18:19:01","date_gmt":"2019-07-17T18:19:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wcsu.wpengine.com\/news-archives\/the-drunken-city\/"},"modified":"2019-07-17T18:19:01","modified_gmt":"2019-07-17T18:19:01","slug":"the-drunken-city","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/news-archives\/the-drunken-city\/","title":{"rendered":"20115  WCSU Theatre Arts to present romantic comedy &#8216;The Drunken City&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">&#013;<\/p>\n<div id=\"sharingTools\"><!-- #include virtual=\"\/include\/sharingtools.inc\" --><\/div>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<div id=\"breadcrumb\"><!-- #include virtual=\"\/include\/breadcrumb.inc\" --><\/div>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p class=\"title\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0\">WCSU Theatre Arts to present romantic comedy \u2018The Drunken City\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/w\/newsevents\/images\/DrunkenCity_press.jpg\" alt=\"Image from 'The Drunken City'\" width=\"300\" height=\"420\" align=\"right\" \/>DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/\">Western Connecticut State University<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/theatrearts\/\">Department of Theatre Arts<\/a> will present the bittersweet romantic comedy \u201cThe Drunken City\u201d for two weeks in October 2015.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>The theatre production is about three young, soon-to-be-wed women who get drunk on a wild bar crawl through New York City that makes them question their future, fate and the meaning of life. <\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p> On Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m., the play will open to WCSU students; 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8 is \u201cHigh School Night,\u201d and all area high school students are invited to watch the performance at no charge. All performances will be in the Studio Theatre in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/svpa\/svpa-center.asp\">Visual and Performing Arts Cente<\/a>r on the university\u2019s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>The cast will include WCSU students Aimee M\u2019Sadoques of Waterbury as Marnie; Margaret Buzak of Bethel as Linda; Stephanie Brown of Waterbury as Melissa; Jake Capelli of West Haven as Frank; TJ Swetz of Poughquag, New York, as Eddie; John Mudgett of Danbury as Bob; and understudies Kristen Muller of Norwalk and Joey Calabrese of Harwinton.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Drunken City,\u201d directed by WCSU Theatre Arts Department chair and professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/theatrearts\/mcdaniel.asp\">Pam McDaniel<\/a>, opens to the public at 8 p.m. on Oct. 9, 10, 16 and 17, with 2 p.m. matinees on Oct. 10, 11, 17 and 18. Ticket prices are $20 for general admission and $15 for non-WCSU students and seniors.
