{"id":989,"date":"2019-07-17T18:19:06","date_gmt":"2019-07-17T18:19:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wcsu.wpengine.com\/news-archives\/veteransworkforceopportunityservices\/"},"modified":"2019-07-17T18:19:06","modified_gmt":"2019-07-17T18:19:06","slug":"veteransworkforceopportunityservices","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/news-archives\/veteransworkforceopportunityservices\/","title":{"rendered":"2013 Veterans ready to enter corporate world with help from WCSU"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">&#013;<\/p>\n<div id=\"sharingTools\"><!-- #include virtual=\"\/include\/sharingtools.inc\" --><\/div>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<div id=\"breadcrumb\"><!-- #include virtual=\"\/include\/breadcrumb.inc\" --><\/div>\n<p>&#013;<br \/>\n    &#013;<\/p>\n<p><strong>DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 After six months learning about  project management and information technology at a satellite campus of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\">Western  Connecticut State University<\/a>, 10 military veterans are ready for the corporate  world.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>Oct. 16, 2013<\/strong>, friends and families  will watch as the 10 graduates receive their certificates that enable them to  begin corporate careers, with some continuing their college education.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>By participating with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wforce.org\/\">Workforce Opportunity Services<\/a> (WOS), a registered nonprofit company that affords young  adults in inner-city, rural and underserved areas an opportunity to chart their  own path to personal, professional and financial independence through  scholarship programs, WCSU prepared veteran-students for the ins and outs of  professional management at the Fortune 500 level.<\/p>\n<p>&#013;<\/p>\n<p>The two-semester, six-month  Certificate in Project Management training program also matched students with corporations  where they received on-the-job training.
