DANBURY, CONN. <\/strong>\u2014 University of Massachusetts at Amherst Professor of Psychology Dr. Susan Krauss Whitbourne will discuss \u201cPathways through Midlife: The Results of a 40-year Study on Adult Personality Change\u201d at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 3, in the Student Center Theater on the Western Connecticut State University Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. The talk is part of the \u201cPsych Matters\u201d lecture series and will be free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n


\n Whitbourne\u2019s talk will be based on her four decade follow-up of Baby Boomers from college through the midlife years. Students in her lab at UMass-Amherst have been conducting studies on the relationship between identity, stereotype threat and memory in middle and later adulthood.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n


\n Whitbourne received her doctorate from Columbia University and has spent most of her career studying adult development. She has published several books on the subject, including \u201cAdult Development and Aging: Biopsychosocial Perspectives\u201d and \u201cThe Aging Body: Physiological Changes and Psychological Consequences.\u201d Whitbourne\u2019s work has been featured on the Discovery Health Channel and in an online companion to the PBS series \u201cDiscovering Psychology.\u201d<\/p>\n
