DANBURY, CONN – Award-winning local election coverage returns from 8 to 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019. Election Connection will air on Comcast Channel 97, on the radio at WXCI-91.7 FM, livestreamed on the Western Connecticut State University homepage at www.wcsu.edu/live and on the Facebook page, www.facebook.com/ElectionConnection/.
This year’s broadcast will feature up-to-the-minute coverage of Connecticut’s local elections throughout Fairfield, Litchfield and Hartford counties, in addition to discussions of current and controversial issues facing Americans today. This year, there also will be a pre-election show on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, from 7 to 9 p.m. that will be livestreamed on the university’s homepage and the Facebook page. Featured guests on the show will include local Democratic and Republican candidates, criminologist and attorney Dr. Casey Jordan; business adviser for Connecticut’s Small Business and Development Center Nelson Merchan; and local entrepreneur and owner of OEP Soapery, Deborah Freeman.
Viewers are encouraged to call in at (203) 837-9182 and tweet to “@ElectionCT.” The Facebook page, WCSU Election Connection, will feature additional stories and interviews. A live Facebook stream will show behind-the-scenes of the studio Control Room during the live broadcasts.
WCSU’s Election Connection productions have consistently earned honors from professional organizations in the communications field, including first place and second place respectively two years in a row in the category of Studio Multi-Camera Production at the Festival of Media Arts – a highly competitive nationwide festival. Previous recognitions include Telly Awards for Live Coverage and a Communicator Award of Distinction from the International Academy of the Visual Arts.
