The virtual exhibition, sponsored by the WCSU Department of Art, offers the public an opportunity to experience the diverse works in graphic design, illustration, photography and painting created by this year’s B.A. in Visual Art candidates. Closure of the VPAC Gallery and all other WCSU facilities to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic has made on-site installation and viewing at the Gallery impossible, but the virtual tour provides a creative response that opens the exhibition to all through online access from home.

Through the web page link, www.wcsu.edu/art/2020/03/2020-senior-portfolio-virtual-exhibition/, the online guest is invited to view a virtual exhibition of the students’ works, presented as they would appear in an installation at the Gallery. On the same web page, the visitor is invited to access links for the participating artists to view more comprehensive slide shows of each student’s portfolio of works.

The WCSU Department of Art organizes the Senior Portfolio Exhibition each spring as a capstone experience for students pursuing the B.A. in Visual Art in one of four areas of concentration: graphic design, illustration, photography and studio arts. This year’s virtual exhibition features 20 art majors with a concentration in graphic design, six in illustration, three in photography and six in studio arts/painting. The Art Department has awarded special recognition to Jessica Paternoster, of Mahopac, New York, as winner of the design competition featured on this year’s Senior Portfolio Exhibition poster.
