Litchfield Hall Update

Dear campus community,

Over the past couple of days, Western Connecticut State University has seen an incremental increase in the number of positive cases of Covid-19 in Litchfield Hall.

As a precautionary measure, starting tomorrow, Feb. 19, we will test all Litchfield Hall residents. Tests will be administered to all Litchfield Hall residents again on Monday, Feb. 22. In consultation with the state Department of Public Health, and at its recommendation, Litchfield students will remain in the residence hall for up to 14 days, unless the situation allows otherwise.

Food service will be provided to Litchfield residents in their building and programs for students will continue virtually. All students in isolation or quarantine will be instructed to contact their professors for instructions on how to attend their classes virtually.

We are taking these steps out of an abundance of caution and with consultation and advice from local experts, the Connecticut Department of Public Health and the CSCU Board of Regents to ensure the safety of Litchfield residents and the campus in general.

Any students who are experiencing symptoms that might indicate Covid-19 should check with Health Services or their own physician. Let us all remember to continue to wear a mask, wash your hands and socially distance.

We will keep you updated as more information comes in.

Please remain vigilant and healthy.

Sincerely,

Dr. John B. Clark
President
Western Connecticut State University
