WCSU students are now eligible to receive a Covid-19 vaccination on campus

Midtown Campus Gates

Western Connecticut State University students are now eligible to receive a Covid-19 vaccination on campus.

Some 2,500 doses of the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine, provided by the Community Health Center, Inc., will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Vaccination clinics will be held on April 20, 22, 26, 28 and 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Bill Williams Gym in Berkshire Hall on the Midtown campus.

Please sign up at the Community Health Center portal at:

West Conn Registration 4/28

West Conn Registration 4/29.

The clinics are open to registered WCSU students only, and there is no residency restriction. Enrolled students who live in other states or countries may also register for the vaccine.

Please be advised that the Johnson and Johnson vaccine may only be administered to individuals over the age of 18 years. Those who will not meet the age requirement by the time the clinic is available and want to receive a COVID-19 vaccine are encouraged to contact WCSU Director of Emergency Management Pano Koukopoulos at koukopoulosp@wcsu.edu as soon as possible.

The federal Center for Disease Control advises that people who have contracted Covid-19 should also be vaccinated. However, they should wait until fully recovered and the isolation period is completed. Those exposed to someone who had the virus should wait until the quarantine period is completed before vaccination.

Anyone attending a clinic must follow social distancing rules, wear a mask and follow directions of clinic monitors.

Students MUST bring their WCSU ID card or proof of registration along with a photo id to the vaccination clinic.

Sincerely,

Dr. Keith Betts
