WCSU to offer free stress management workshop

DANBURY, CONN. The Institute for Holistic Health Studies (IHHS), housed within the Western Connecticut State University Department of Health Promotion and Exercise Sciences, will conduct a workshop, “Finding Serenity in the Storm: Holistic Health Management,” conducted by IHHS Director Christel Autuori and Lotus Gardens Yoga Director Lara Ward, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, in Room 127 of White Hall on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury.

During this event, Autuori and Ward will explore the holistic and multidimensional aspects of health. According to Autuori, balance and harmony in several areas of life are necessary for good health and vitality. During this interactive workshop, participants will be introduced to various stress management strategies including mindfulness meditation, breath work and guided imagery in order to learn to find serenity in the storms of 21st century life.

Ward, an experienced, registered yoga teacher, instructs several different types of classes including senior and chair yoga, stand-up paddleboard yoga, yin and acupressure yoga, and anatomy for yoga teachers. She also co-instructs reflexology for yoga teachers. Ward’s experience enables her to share her knowledge of yoga, kinesiology, massage therapy and reflexology with her clients and students.

Autuori is an integrative health coach, registered yoga teacher, registered dental hygienist and a certified holistic stress management instructor. According to her biography, “She has always taken a holistic and individualistic approach throughout her career, and whether working with dental hygiene patients, yoga students, health coaching clients or students in the classroom, her methods have been based on the principal that health is not simply the absence of disease but the complete state of physical, mental and social well-being.”
