WCSU President’s lecture to focus on economic challenges
CEO of Commonfund to share views on global policy
DANBURY, CONN. — As the global economy continues to grow and change, so do the challenges that come along with it.
At 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, Verne Sedlacek, chief executive officer of Commonfund, will address these concerns in his talk entitled “What’s Next? Global Policy and Economic Challenge Ahead,” as part of the president’s lecture series. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be in Ives Concert Hall in White Hall on Western Connecticut State University’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury.
Sedlacek joined Commonfund in 2002 and was appointed president and CEO in 2003. Commonfund provides fund management and investment advice for nonprofit institutions. Before joining Commonfund, Sedlacek was with the Harvard Management Company, where he was responsible for managing areas including personnel, budgets, systems, performance, operations and market risk evaluation for the multi-billion-dollar university fund. He has served on many not-for-profit and for-profit boards. He currently serves on the boards of the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges and the New York Stock Exchange Pension Managers Advisory Board. He earned an A.B. in economics from Princeton and is a certified public accountant in New York.
