Through student collaboration with a guest director\, playwright and composer\, a devised and site-specific piece will result. DESCRIPTION:The WCSU Department of Theatre Arts announces its Fall 2020 season. “New Works – New Voices” is a virtual production series dedicated to amplifying the voices of marginalized and underrepresented playwrights and composers. DESCRIPTION:Dr. Annette J. Saddik\, professor of English and Theatre at the City University of New York\, will present the fall 2020 English Department Faculty Lecture\, “From Broadway Darling to Outrageous Outlaw: Tennessee Williams and the American Theatre\,” from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. via WebEx. The lecture is open to the WCSU campus community only. Saddik specializes in 20th- and 21st-century drama\, particularly the work of Tennessee Williams. She has published four books\, including “Tennessee Williams and the Theatre of Excess: The Strange\, The Crazed\, The Queer” (2015) and “The Politics of Reputation: The Critical Reception of Tennessee Williams’ Later Plays” (1999). Saddik lectures and advises on productions on- and off-Broadway and throughout the world\, and serves the League of Off-Broadway Theatres and Producers as a Lucille Lortel Awards voter.
