The WCSU Department of Theatre Arts announces its Fall 2020 season. “New Works – New Voices” is a virtual production series dedicated to amplifying the voices of marginalized and underrepresented playwrights and composers. This virtual series promises to not only provide meaningful performance, design and technical opportunities for our students, but also to lift up the voices of writers and composers from diverse communities and populations.<\/p>\n
The WCSU Department of Theatre Arts is dedicated to the safety of our students, and is leading the way in online production innovation. Each show will be rehearsed, performed, edited and broadcast entirely online. Each show will have two performance dates as part of a 10-day-long virtual production festival, spanning from Nov. 27 through Dec. 6.<\/p>\n
The five shows that will be featured in “New Works – New Voices” are:<\/p>\n
DOGNAP ON DEKALB, written by Benjamin Col\u00f3n. Directed by Sal Trapani. Streaming on 11\/28 and 12\/2.<\/p>\n
IN THE OPEN, written by Mona Mansour. Directed by Kimille Howard. Streaming on 11\/30 and 12\/4.<\/p>\n
THE RADIUM GIRLS: A JAW-DROPPING NEW MUSICAL, music by Amanda D’Archangelis, lyrics by Sami Horneff, book by Lisa Mongillo. Directed by Tim Howard. Streaming on 11\/27 and 12\/6.<\/p>\n
UNTITLED DEVISED PROJECT, written by Keelay Gipson, composed by J. Oconer Navarro. Directed by Chris Bolan. Streaming on 12\/1 and 12\/5.<\/p>\n
BE MORE FUNNY AND OTHER SHORT PLAYS, written by Eric Lane. Directed by Pam McDaniel. Streaming on 11\/29 and 12\/3.<\/p>\n
