If we can be of assistance to you in helping you to decide whether WCSU&#8217;s program is for you, please do not hesitate to contact us.<\/span><\/p><h4 style=\"text-align: left\">\u00a0<\/h4><h4 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">The (Baccalaureate Degree Program in Nursing\/Master\u2019s degree program in Nursing\/Doctor of Nursing Practice Program and\/or Post-Graduate APRN Certificate Program) at Western Connecticut State University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC., 20001, Phone: (202)-887-6791.<\/span><\/h4><h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;text-align: center\"><br \/>Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.) Overview<\/span><\/h4><\/div><\/div><div><div><p>The Master of Science in Nursing program at WCSU prepares nurses for leadership position in nursing practice, nursing education, and\/or nursing management. Then program requires completion of 41-47 credits of specialized professional course work with courses organized in three components:<\/p><ul><li>A foundational core (theory, issues, research, foundations of practice)<\/li><li>A role component specific to the selected role; and<\/li><li>A role support component that provides a concentrated practicum experience in the selected role.<\/li><\/ul><p>Students may prepare for the following Advanced Practice Program tracks: Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Clinical Nurse Specialist tracks are also available. All students complete a sequence of clinical and role component courses, including 540 hours. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the certification examination for their chosen role.<\/p><p>The program is designed for part-time study, with courses offered in the evening. Part-time study requires approximately 4 years for completion of the degree, although students are granted up to 6 years to complete the requirements.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;font-size: 12pt\">Students enrolled in WCSU MS in Nursing have several options:<\/span><\/p><ul><li>Students preparing as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/nursing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/77\/2021\/01\/AGNP-Program-Plan-20207427.pdf\">Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioners (NP)<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0complete a sequence of clinical and role component courses, including 540 hours of clinical practicum. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the national certification exam.<\/li><li>Students in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/nursing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/77\/2021\/01\/AGCNS-program-Plan-20207428.pdf\">Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>option take a blend of clinical and role component courses, including 540 hours of clinical practicum. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the national certification exam.<\/li><li>Students preparing as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/nursing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/77\/2021\/01\/PMHNP-Program-plan-20207429.pdf\"><strong>Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP)<\/strong> <\/a>complete a sequence of clinical and role component courses, including 540 hours of clinical practicum.\u00a0 Upon completion of the program student are eligible t sit for the national certification exam.<\/li><li>Student preparing as an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/nursing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/77\/2021\/05\/WESTERN-CONNECTICUT-STATE-UNIVERSITY-Acute.pdf\">Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP)<\/a><\/strong> complete a sequence of clinical and role component courses, including 540 hours of clinical practicum.\u00a0 Upon completion of the program , students are eligible to sit for the national certification exam.<\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;font-size: 12pt\">Post-Master&#8217;s study options:<\/span><\/p><\/div><p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: 10pt\">Post-Master\u2019s Study: Adult &#8211; Gerontology Nurse Practitioner<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p>The department of nursing also offers a <span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Post-Master\u2019s Study: Adult &#8211; Gerontology Nurse Practitione<\/span>r.\u00a0<\/span> This post degree certificate program offers post-master\u2019s course work that prepares adult nurse practitioners to be eligible to take the adult nurse practitioner certificate exam.
