{"id":210,"date":"2018-07-27T15:58:36","date_gmt":"2018-07-27T15:58:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wcsu.wpengine.com\/nursing\/?page_id=210"},"modified":"2025-06-10T17:30:07","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T17:30:07","slug":"overview","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/nursing\/rnbs\/overview\/","title":{"rendered":"RN to BS Program &#8211; Overview"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-page\" data-elementor-id=\"210\" class=\"elementor elementor-210\" data-elementor-post-type=\"page\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-f13d458 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"f13d458\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-535786b6\" data-id=\"535786b6\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-61c73509 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"61c73509\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Registered Nurse (RN) graduates of associate degree and diploma programs have been able to earn the baccalaureate degree at Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) by completing a program of study similar to that completed by undergraduate students, but including some RN-only components that acknowledge and build upon existing knowledge and skills.\u00a0 These students are enrolled as Registered Nursing students in the RN-BS degree completion program.\u00a0 In order to receive a degree from WCSU a student must complete a minimum of 30 credits and\/or one half of the major (whichever is greater) at the University.<\/p><p>RNs may be eligible for up to 28 transfer credits, which may be applied to nursing courses (NUR 205, 225, 235, 255, 300, and 325).\u00a0 Associate degree graduates may be eligible for additional transfer credit, which may be applied to the General Education, Major, and Free Elective requirements.<\/p><p>This leaves the RN with the need to complete, in addition to General Education, Major, and Free Elective courses, the following Nursing courses:<\/p><p>NUR 301 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nursing Leadership in Health Care Organizations<br \/>NUR 309\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Transition to Professional Nursing Practice<br \/>NUR 311\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Physical Assessment Across the Lifespan<br \/>NUR 329 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Principles of Community Health Nursing<br \/>NUR 330 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nursing in the Community<br \/>NUR 332 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, and Nursing Practice<br \/>NUR 336 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Human Health Experience and Nursing Practice<br \/>NUR 361 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Research Process in Nursing<br \/>NUR 376 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Professional Nursing Role Development<\/p><p><strong>These courses are offered online.<\/strong><\/p><p>Students who graduate from this program\u00a0will possess the following learning outcomes.
