This year we are happy to provide an engaging and informative Transfer Student Orientation experience on <\/strong><\/span>the Midtown Campus <\/b><\/span><\/span>in<\/b><\/span><\/span> the Science Building on Thursday, August 20<\/b><\/span><\/span>.<\/b><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/b> We have a special schedule of events designed with you, the transfer student, in mind.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Welcome Weekend<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have learned over the years that most transfer students prefer to be part of the group so we encourage you to take part in all of the orientation events we offer and in particular attend your residence hall orientation or the commuter orientation during Welcome Weekend.\u00a0 If you need any help in academic matters, please feel free to contact the Student Affairs Office and we’ll be happy to put you in touch with an advisor.<\/p>\n

How to get connected at WestConn<\/p>\n

In beginning your education at Western CT State University, it is important to get connected with both your faculty and your peers.\u00a0 To that end there are a number of activities that we suggest you consider attending.\u00a0\u00a0Perhaps the best way to connect with WestConn is at Clubs Carnival<\/strong>.\u00a0 Virtually every student organization will have a table to present their program to new students.\u00a0 In addition, there will be music and amusements.\u00a0 You can find a list of active student organizations here or\u00a0learn how to start your own club.\u00a0 If you are commuting, consider joining the Commuter Student Organization<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 There is something for everyone and every age so sign up for email notifications and join one organization or many, depending on your available time.<\/p>\n

And at the end of the day, you can relax and unwind and have a cup of Starbuck’s coffee at The Daily Grind<\/a><\/em><\/strong> in the Westside Campus Center which is open most afternoons and nights.<\/p>\n
