\"\"The concept of a \u201cFirst-Generation\u201d student was introduced into federal policy by the passage of Higher Education Amendments to the Higher Education Act of 1965.\u00a0 As a result of this amendment, we have the opportunity to celebrate those who have made huge strides in this country to be the first to attend college.<\/p>\n

In November, Western Connecticut State University joins in a day of celebration with other colleges across the nation who are engaged in a number of different activities to highlight First Generation students on campus.<\/p>\n

Students, faculty, and administration have the opportunity to share their own personal experiences as First-Generation college students, and the impact that experience has had on their lives.<\/p>\n
