What exactly do we mean when we say that someone or something is \u201cgood\u201d or \u201cbad,\u201d and what basis do we have for making such judgments? There has never been a shortage of traditions and conventions that will answer these questions for you, but ethical theory requires you to do the hard work of discovering the truth about morality through your own independent thinking and rational argument.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Applied ethics is the application of ethical theory to particular questions and contexts. Applied ethics courses focus on a specific discipline or field, such as business, health care, politics, or criminal justice.
