It confirms that the document has been issued by a recognized authority and can be legally accepted abroad. The Office of the Registrar can assist you in having your transcript and diploma Apostilled.\u00a0 You should contact the foreign government usually through their embassy or consulate, prior to starting this process to ensure that they will be accepted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>More information about the Connecticut Secretary of the State&#8217;s document authentication process can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.ct.gov\/sots\/legislative-services\/authentication-of-documents-and-the-apostille\">here. <\/a>Please note the Registrar&#8217;s Office is unable to answer questions regarding the State of Connecticut&#8217;s process.<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Diploma Authentication<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>If you require document authentication of your diploma, please send your original diploma to the the Office of the Registrar at the address below.\u00a0 A copy of the diploma cannot be accepted.<br \/>\nIf the original diploma as been lost or damaged, you may request a replacement diploma by completing the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/registrar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2025\/08\/Replacement-Diploma-Request-8-20-25.pdf\">Undergraduate Replacement Diploma form.<\/a> Please send the completed form along with a check for $25 payable to Western Connecticut State University to the Office of the Registrar at the address below.\u00a0 Please note on the Replacement Diploma form that you need the diploma Apostilled.<\/p>\n<p>Office of the Registrar<br \/>\nWestern Connecticut State University<br \/>\n181 White Street<br \/>\nDanbury, CT 06810<\/p>\n<p>Once the original diploma has been received, the registrar&#8217;s office will make arrangements to have a copy of your diploma notarized by a Connecticut Notary Public and will then forward both the original diploma and the notarized copy of the diploma to you.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Please allow 1-2 weeks for processing and if you are requesting a replacement diploma, allow an additional 1-2 weeks<\/span><\/p>\n<p>You will then submit the notarized copy of the diploma, along with the required forms and payment, directly to the CT Secretary of the State.\u00a0 Contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.ct.gov\/SOTS\/Legislative-Services\/Authentication-of-Documents-and-the-Apostille\">CT Secretary of the State&#8217;s office<\/a> for information about their timeline once they have received your materials.\u00a0 When the Secretary of the State has completed the document authentication process, they will return all of the material directly to you.<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Transcript Authentication<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>If you require document authentication of your transcript, you will need to order an official transcript and note that it needs to be authenticated. In some instances, the certified electronic diploma can be presented in lieu of an Apostilled diploma.
