One of the significant activities of the American Institute of Chemists<\/span> Foundation (AICF), administered by the American Institute of Chemists (AIC), <\/span>is the annual student awards program to honor outstanding seniors, post-<\/span>baccalaureate and post-doctoral students majoring in chemistry, chemical <\/span>engineering or biochemistry. These awards are given in recognition of a <\/span>demonstrated record of ability, leadership, and professional promise. <\/span>Candidates are chosen and nominated by their faculty members.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CARL AND RUTH DENISON OUTSTANDING SENIOR AWARD:<\/em>\u00a0 <\/span><\/b>MICHAEL\u00a0<\/b>A.\u00a0<\/b>KELLY<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This award is presented to a nontraditional senior majoring in chemistry or <\/span>biochemistry who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement while <\/span>fulfilling non-academic commitments. The award is given in honor of the <\/span>Denisons,\u00a0professors\u00a0emeriti at the university.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

EAS ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY AWARD:<\/em> <\/span><\/b>BRIELLE\u00a0<\/b>M.\u00a0<\/b>SKRUTSKIE<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The award for outstanding performance in analytical chemistry will be <\/span>presented by the course instructor.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

GENE<\/b>RAL CHEMISTRY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: <\/b><\/em>ANNA BROWN<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The recipient of this award, presented by the CRC Press, is selected on the <\/span>basis of outstanding academic achievement in general chemistry. The recipient <\/span>is given a new edition of the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics as well <\/span>as a commemorative scroll.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

MASSY RADJABZADEH AWARD IN ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY: <\/b><\/em>HENRY\u00a0<\/b>M.\u00a0<\/b>VALLE-AYAL<\/b>A<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This award is in memory of Dr. Massy Rajabzadeh, a professor of analytical <\/span>chemistry at WCSU, who recognized the importance of compassion and <\/span>nurturing in teaching students. It is given to support and encourage an <\/span>analytical chemistry student who shows improvement over the course of <\/span>the semester.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
