{"id":156,"date":"2018-07-25T18:18:46","date_gmt":"2018-07-25T18:18:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wcsu.wpengine.com\/socialsci\/?page_id=156"},"modified":"2018-07-27T14:07:29","modified_gmt":"2018-07-27T14:07:29","slug":"summer","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/socialsci\/archaeology\/summer\/","title":{"rendered":"ANT 229 &#8211; Field School in Archaeology &#8211; Summer 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\">Summer Session 1<br \/>\nMay 22 \u2013 June 23, 2017<br \/>\nMonday through Thursday, 8:00am \u2013 4:00pm<br \/>\nSix Credits<\/p>\n<p>Be a part of (pre)history.\u00a0 Our field school this summer will be excavating one of the oldest archaeological sites in Connecticut.\u00a0 Learn about Paleoindian culture, ancient environments, and archaeological techniques.\u00a0 Best of all, earn six credits while spending the summer session outside!<\/p>\n<p>The 5-week, 6-credit WSCU field school will include training in New England Pre-Contact history, archaeological survey and excavation techniques, laboratory methods, conservation procedures, artifact cataloguing and analysis, and methods and techniques in geoarchaeology, archaeobotany, ground penetrating radar survey, and UAV drone survey. Students will have a unique opportunity to work on a collaborative research project alongside professional and volunteer archaeologists, geologists, and ecologists.
