Every year, our department gives out between 8-10 department awards, depending on the year, to our most exceptional students.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t

Awardees are selected based on GPA and commitment to excellence, along with additional criteria noted below. Some awards include a cash prize or tuition credit, and all awardees receive a book that our faculty select for them based on their topical interests.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Department Award in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences<\/strong> (Students majoring in any Social Sciences discipline are eligible)<\/p>

Howard G. Post Sociology Recognition Award<\/strong> (All Anthropology\/Sociology majors are eligible)<\/p>

The WCSU-AAUP Steven Ward Community Service Award<\/strong> (All Anthropology\/Sociology majors are eligible)<\/p>

Leonard A. Dente Economics Recognition Award <\/strong>(Students majoring in any Economics or any Social Sciences discipline are eligible)<\/p>

Rosa Parks Award for Global Citizenship<\/strong> (Students majoring in any Social Sciences discipline are eligible)<\/p>

Russell Fryer Political Science Recognition Award<\/strong> ((Students majoring in Political Science are eligible)<\/p>

The R. Averell Manes Gender Equity Award<\/strong> (Students majoring in any Social Sciences discipline are eligible)<\/p>

Rosien Scholarship<\/strong> ($1,000 Tuition Credit) must be FT PS major with 3.0 GPA (Students majoring in Political Science are eligible)<\/p>

Truman A. Warner Anthropology Award<\/strong> ($500-750) (Students majoring in any Social Sciences discipline are eligible in alternate years)<\/p>

John V. Friel Social Sciences Scholarship<\/strong> ($250) (Students majoring in any Social Sciences discipline are eligible in alternate years, who are non-traditional History majors or non-traditional majors in the Social Sciences)<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Angela Rossi Zurowski Andersen-International Institute of Connecticut (ARZA-IICONN) \u2013 Internship Program<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>

CreaTechnology Awards:<\/strong><\/a><\/span> These awards support student\/faculty collaborations that combine creative arts and technology.<\/p>

Hancock Student Leadership Program:<\/strong> <\/a><\/span>Students can receive a $1500 scholarship while interning on campus or at a local organization.<\/p>

Fulbright U.S. Student Program:<\/strong><\/a><\/span> In partnership with more than 140 countries worldwide, the Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers unparalleled opportunities in all academic disciplines to passionate and accomplished graduating college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals from all backgrounds.<\/p>

Boren Fellowships:<\/strong><\/a><\/span> The Boren Fellowship program funds research and language study proposals by\u00a0U.S. graduate students\u00a0in world regions critical to U.S. interests.<\/p>

Macricostas Global Learning Fund:<\/strong><\/a> <\/span>Undergraduate students in the Macricostas School of Arts and Sciences can apply to the Macricostas Global Learning Fund to partially subsidize academic study abroad opportunities offered by the University.<\/p>
