Faculty Biographical Sketches
Patricia J. Cumella, Department of Nursing
Patricia J. Cumella joined the Western Connecticut faculty as an assistant professor in January 2016. Patricia graduated from the State University of NY, Downstate Medical Center and received her Masters in Science from Adelphi University School of Nursing. She holds certification in both Association Of Medical Surgical Nurses, medical surgical nursing and National League of Nursing, Certified Nurse Educator. She has held several nursing hospital leadership positions including Assistant Director of Nursing in a large teaching hospital. Patricia’s clinical experience spans from acute care hospitals, long term care facilities and substance abuse centers to community and home care settings.
Patricia is currently enrolled in the Nursing Education Doctoral Program at Western Connecticut/Southern Connecticut University. Professor Cumella’s research interests include distance education, incivility and NCLEX Preparation. Patricia is an active member of of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, National League of Nursing, Association of Medical Surgical Nurses and Association of Educational Researchers.
