{"id":47,"date":"2016-08-15T19:56:11","date_gmt":"2016-08-15T19:56:11","guid":{"rendered":"\/sps\/fbioriley\/"},"modified":"2016-08-15T21:07:35","modified_gmt":"2016-08-15T21:07:35","slug":"fbioriley","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/sps\/fbioriley\/","title":{"rendered":"Mary Ann Riley, Department of Nursing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mary Ann Riley, a Full Professor of Nursing, has been a full time member  of WestConn\u2019s Nursing Department since 1977, and prior to coming to WestConn  she taught at Pace University and Dutchess Community College. She received a  BSN from SUNY- Plattsburgh, and MA and M.Ed. degrees from Teachers College,  Columbia University. Professor Riley\u2019s specialty is Community Health Nursing  holding national certification in Infusion Therapy. Professor Riley continues  to practice her specialty on a part-time basis and serves as a member of the  editorial board for the\u00a0Journal  of Infusion Therapy.\u00a0 Professor Riley  has written three nursing texts. One book received the American Journal of  Nursing Book of the Year Award, and the other book was translated into  Portuguese. She contributed a chapter on Geriatric Nursing for a medical  textbook, and published a journal article on cultural diversity in home care.  In addition to her scholarly writing and nursing practice, she is interested in  competency-based education, having served as a consultant for 15 years to the  University of the State of New York\u2019s Regents College Degrees Programs in  Baccalaureate Nursing. Professor Riley has held several consultative leadership  and administrative positions in various health care agencies in both New York  and Connecticut and currently serves as a consultant in nursing practice in  several states.\u00a0 She serves on the Board  of Directors for Pope John Paul II Center for Health Care in Danbury, and is a  member of the Medical Advisory Board and Foundation, having served as  Chairperson of the Foundation for three years.\u00a0  Professor Riley is also the Chairperson of the Professional Advisory  Committee of Western Connecticut Home Care in Danbury CT.\u00a0 Professor Riley is a member of Sigma Theta  Tau, the International Nursing Honor Society and is a founder of the Kappa  Alpha Chapter at WestConn. In appreciation, the Chapter established the Mary  Ann Riley Scholarship, which is awarded annually to a graduate student.
