Right in our Danbury\/Brookfield backyard is the Still River Greenway, a 25 mile tributary of the Housatonic River. What makes the river so interesting is that it was heavily polluted in the late 1800s and early 1900s by the Danbury Hat factories that released toxic waste chemicals into it. With considerable effort, people living in the Housatonic Watershed, restored it, and it is now being taken care of by several groups including the Housatonic Valley Authority, The Candlewood Lake Authority, and the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. You can take care of it too.<\/p>\n
